Job Description

Less than 1 month, Less than 30 hrs/week We are a Connecticut-based personal injury and Social Security disability law firm with an established brand looking to refresh our primary website (lawyerthelawyer.com) and build out a course/LMS platform on it for educational content we're launching. This is a two-phase project with an ongoing monthly retainer afterward for the right person. About the Site: Primary site: lawyerthelawyer.com Secondary site: lalawct.com Built on WordPress Existing brand: dark navy and gold, professional/premium legal aesthetic We are NOT looking for a full rebrand — we want a polished refresh that elevates the current look and improves user experience, speed, and conversion Please review both sites before submitting your proposal. Phase 1 — Site Refresh Redesign key pages (homepage, practice area pages, attorney profiles, contact) within our existing brand aesthetic (navy/gold) Improve mobile responsiveness and page speed Ensure contact forms and lead capture are optimized and tracked properly in GA4 Clean up any technical SEO issues (site structure, meta, schema markup for a law firm) Phase 2 — LMS / Course Implementation Implement a course platform on the existing WordPress site using LearnDash, LearnPress, LifterLMS, or equivalent — recommend what you know best and explain why We are launching 1–2 courses initially, with room to grow One course is a multi-week structured program (content approximately 75% complete) — we need to be able to begin uploading and organizing content now Courses will be paid products — payment gateway integration required (Stripe preferred) Simple, clean student dashboard experience that matches our brand Course pages must be mobile-friendly Phase 3 — Ongoing Monthly Retainer After project completion, we are looking for reliable ongoing support including: Plugin and WordPress core updates Minor content and page updates Troubleshooting and site health monitoring Course content uploads as new modules are completed Required Experience: Strong WordPress development portfolio — please include links to sites you've built or redesigned Demonstrated experience with at least one LMS/course plugin (LearnDash, LearnPress, LifterLMS, Tutor LMS, or similar) — please specify which and show an example if possible Payment gateway integration (Stripe or WooCommerce) GA4 setup and event tracking Mobile-first development Sales funnel design and implementation — we need someone who understands how to move a visitor from landing page to purchase or consultation request, not just how to build pages. This includes lead capture, thank-you page flows, email opt-in integration, and post-purchase onboarding for course buyers Experience building funnels for professional services (legal, medical, financial, or similar) or for course/digital product sales is strongly preferred Familiarity with legal or professional services websites is a plus but not required You Are NOT a Good Fit If You use pre-packaged templates and call it a design You have not actually built and launched a course/LMS site before You need to be chased for updates How to Apply: To be considered, please include the following in your proposal: Links to 2–3 WordPress sites you've built or redesigned (not just maintained) Which LMS plugin you recommend for our use case and a brief reason why An example of a course or membership site you've implemented Describe a funnel you've built — what was the goal (course sale, lead capture, consultation booking), what did it look like step by step, and what results did it produce? Your proposed approach for Phase 1 and Phase 2 — even a few sentences per phase is enough to show us you read this Include the phrase "Navy and Gold" at the top of your proposal. We use this to filter proposals from people who did not read the full post. Proposals without it will not be reviewed. Budget: Lets discuss. We are looking for quality over the lowest bid. If your proposal is templated or generic, it will be passed over regardless of price. more about "WordPress Developer — Law Firm Site Refresh + Course/LMS Implementation" Skills Skip skills Previous skills. Law firms face a unique challenge with LMS platforms — the content is usually dense, the students are busy professionals or clients under stress, and if the system feels clunky or confusing, completion rates drop fast. The hard part here isn't installing LearnDash or setting up a course grid. It's designing the learning flow so people actually finish — and so you're not fielding support tickets every enrollment period. I'd start by mapping the learner journey before touching any tech: enrollment → content delivery → assessment → completion. Then we'd decide the access model (drip schedule, membership tiers, certificate triggers) based on how your firm wants to deliver the education, not based on what the plugin allows by default. I built the MileStar LMS for a consulting client at $15K — multi-course architecture, completion tracking, and automated certification. The system still runs without ongoing support because we planned the structure upfront. If this sounds like the right approach, I'd want to understand your course content and learner goals before recommending a build plan.
